Fri 12 May: Missing Millions: A Global Day of Protest for M.E./CFS
Statement with Shoes: Legislative Buildings, Finch Road, Douglas. 12.00 – 2.00pm
To mark M.E. Awareness Day, we are joining with groups all over the world.
We are making a display of 100 pairs of shoes leading up the spiral staircase in the Legislative Buildings. We ask members, family and friends to bring pairs of shoes to include in the display. Each empty pair of shoes represents someone suffering from ME, or a family member affected by ME, who is missing out on normal life because of the disease.
Please bring the shoes at 12.00, and collect them at 2.00pm.
Each pair of shoes will have a card attached. You may choose to:
• Write your name on the card
• Write a personal sentence about the effect ME has had on your life
• Leave the card anonymous.
If you are not able to come in person, but wish to have your name represented, or a statement included, then please send me the information and we will include it on a pair of otherwise anonymous shoes.
IOM Gov will also light up buildings Blue eg Power Station, Tower of Refuge, Ramsey Swing Bridge, to highlight ME Awareness Day.
Linda Tannenbaum, CEO Open Medicine Foundation in California, will visit the Island 24 – 26 May 2017
We hope you will come and see her, and support this visit. She will be meeting Minister Kate Beecroft DHSC, doctors, politicians, ME Support members, and Manx Radio. This is part of our campaign to persuade the DHSC to provide a proper support service for ME.
Your chance to meet her Wed 24 May, Onchan Main Road Methodist Church:
